One thing to note about Wither Skeletons, they’re slightly taller than their Overworld counterparts so can be stopped in their tracks by openings, block layouts etc., that are only TWO blocks high (same goes for those annoying lava jelly things [Magma Cubes. Ed.]).
When in the Nether, and setting up a basecamp, or moving around, place or dig areas, tunnels, passages, that have ceilings that are two block high (ceiling would be the third block sitting on top of two below) and they can be picked off from the edges they cannot pass under! Woot!
