Sometimes there’s a Glitz in the Matrix and entire segments are missing, Minecraft fails to render the blocks leaving regular shaped holes (typically square or slight off-square) in the world that clip right though to the worlds dead space where blocks and effects no longer render (and plyers die, if they make it through bedrock without cheats). It’s like someone got to work with a styrene hot-knife, slicing through everything, leaving water and lava to form unwavering walls of liquid.
